Letting Go of Expectations

I am giving myself permission to expand, and delve into some topics that have been on my mind & heart. This is supposed to be about Soul nutrition, & that goes way beyond FOOD, although food is still one of my favorite topics.  There will continue to be recipes, tips, etc. coming your way. I simply want to open the heart of this blog, & make more space for That which wants to be expressed to come forth and share the energy of LOVE, PEACE, & JOY,  that is our true nature.

Sometimes we get so involved in making our plans & having expectations that we forget that we are not the One driving the bus. We may not be able to see the whole picture & why something may seem to be taking so long, suddenly change directions, or no longer work when we least expect it. Because there is a greater Whole that is being served, it’s not always for me to know how the pieces of the cosmic puzzle fit together even though I can get bent on figuring it all out! We are Human-iversal, & that means accepting our role without always understanding all the other roles. I feel like Spirit/God/Goddess (whatever name you are comfortable with) has been reminding me lately to take a seat and enjoy the ride rather than trying to make such an effort. I used to set incredibly high expectations for myself, & for others & this often resulted in disappointment & unrealistic perfectionism.  I was 90% self- effort, & 10% trust in the universe, when it came to allowing things to unfold and accepting them as they are. There was also a tremendous waste of energy trying to force things to go a certain way. Then I went through a time where I wondered whether it was human to have ANY expectations at all. I mean, was it okay to expect anything of anybody I was in relationships with? If someone said they would do something, was it wrong to expect they would?

Awhile later, I decided maybe I could try putting forth 10% self effort & 90% trust in the universe. Easier said than done. I came to realize that some expectations were a necessity to human relationships, the key in my experience was in the attachment to the results. I am discovering little by little being at peace is more important to me than being right.  Anotherwards, I have to let go, forgive, & not give away my serenity when an expectation isn’t met.  Letting go, forgiveness, & unconditional love seem to be important for this process. I’m still going through this process, and it is moving along at roughly a snails pace. But I am seeing progress, not only in myself, but in my family, friends, & globally which gives me hope.

I am going to keep my expectations low, & my acceptance high for now. I’m happy and content with the progress to 75% trust, 25% self effort on a good day. I’ll let you know how that goes.  If you feel afraid of going in a new direction, or letting a system or relationship that is no longer working end, or stepping up when you want to shrink back, feel the fear and go on and do it anyway!!

Om Shanti (Peace), Prema (Love), & Bliss (Ananda) to All……

The Six Liquids of Vitality- Blue Green Violet Prism Water

Do you want to step into the next level with your health and well being? Blue Green Violet Prism Water is one of the six liquids of vitality &  I have been experimenting with it for several years to bring my body back into a more alkaline state, boost my immune system, & restore a healthy balance. I make this amazingly special water that I liken to rocket fuel for the body & mind & I’m so excited to share it with you!

There are two ingredients; the first being filtered, living, mineralized water. This is important because the water is your base, so use the highest quality, filtered water you can. The second is Klamath Blue Green algae powder. This algae is a superfood, and a wild nutrient dense supplement with over 60% bioavailable micro protien, and a good source of Vit A and Vit B12. You can find it on the internet, or sometimes in a health food store. The powder needs to be stored in the freezer to preserve it best.  It is harvested just once per year from the Klamath Lake in Oregon, and thought by some to be the only living superfood produced in the U.S.A.  It is wildcrafted, and then dehydrated into a powder to preserve its sensitive micronutrients. It is incredible for the immune system, and a great detoxifier. Once you grow the algae for a day or so, you will have a water that vibrates to the blue green violet frequency. What does all that mean? Feel better, think more clearly, and have a VERY HIGH VIBE!!

Blue Green Violet Prism Water Concentrate

1.) Start with anywhere between a liter to a half gallon of pure water, and use glass to store the water in.

2.) Using a wooden, bamboo or other natural spoon, add between 1 tsp- 1tbsp Klamath blue green algae powder to the water, stirring vigorously in both directions. I wouldn’t use more than one heaping tbsp.

3.) Store in the fridge for 24 hrs. The water should be a nice lighter ocean blue/teal on top, with a few inches of green/cloudy/darker on the bottom.  Now you have a concentrate to last a few days.

4.) To make one serving, add 1/4 algae water to a glass 3/4 full of water and you should have a nice light blue water. Enjoy.

5.) Drink immediately.  At room temp, the algae will start to die off, and it will smell really bad so you need to drink right away. Also, do not drink the bottom few inches of the concentrate (the darker/particulate part).

The Earth provides everything we need to nourish our bodies so beautifully!!

Blessings for your perfect health dear souls!

The Six Liquids of Vitality

What is the difference between try and triumph?  A little umphh!!!  Staying determined to keep climbing the ladder of vitality in a world that is polluted & an elite 1% seek to control & suffer the other 99%’s food chain, destroy the planet’s ecological balance, & horde resources  is no easy feat. I feel like I have been beating this drum for years, & now how joyous the world is awakening & Occupy Wall Street is bringing much needed demonstration to the Truth that WE have had enough!! The journey to a juicy purpose-filled life has not been fast or easy, but it IS possible. There are ways to sidestep the nutrition traps, & take care of yourself from the inside out. I get an image of a lotus when I think about this b/c the lotus grows so beautifully, even though it’s environment is the mud pond!  One step at a time. We will prevail and have more vitality, abundance, & happiness than we can yet dream of my beloved brothers and sisters!

I feel inspired to share the wisdom of Dr. Cassar of ESP (Earth Shift Products). I have watched many of his video’s recently, & he is confirming, encouraging, intelligent balanced with intuition & his own experience, & sharing some fantastic tools and ideas about vitality.

I started on the SAD (standard american diet) & had many dis-eases to show for it, then slowly over the last eight years woke up & found the way to higher states of health. Mentors and teachers have played an important role in guiding me gently along. Dr. Cassar is the latest- he is a spiritualist, toxicologist & chiropractor from Hawaii, & I just can’t put into words how genius I think he is on so many levels!!

So that little umph I mentioned can be assisted with the Six Liquids of Vitality. A kind of rocket fuel for the golden age when it comes to feeding the body, mind, & spirit. Not only do they super boost the immune system, but they are detoxifiers, intestinal cleansers, plaque dissolvers, & purifiers. They are food for the brain! They are like supercharged elixer’s for vitality & longevity & they are pretty simple to make. They help you attract, store, & radiate high vibrational energy. I was so excited because I had already intuitively been led to a few of them, & some were an opportunity to take things to whole new level!

So stay tuned because the next several posts will be dedicated to these 6 incredible liquids, and I will try and share one a week with you all! So get ready to drink to your highest health, happiness, & holiness!

Here is the link to Dr. Cassar’s you tube video that gives a fantastic overview of the six liquids. I will go into more details & share pictures of my home made tonics and my experiences with them in the coming weeks!!

All the light, strength & power of the sun & the loving coolness of the moon are yours because they are inside you! You are a Being of Divine Perfection! Cheers to your highest health!! Blessed Be!

Get Blissed!!- Strawberry Ravioli with Cacao Sauce

For a devotee of Divine Mother, this may be the most blissed out time of the year. I wanted to co-create some extra juicy kitchen LOVE to kick off the first day of Navaratri that began yesterday. Navaratri is the ten days of worship of Divine Mother, with three sets of three days each honoring different aspects of Devi. The first day also happens to be my spiritual mother’s-birthday, so my heart was longing to make something divinely sweet and offer it to Her!!

I had three wishes- that it be raw, delicious, & really easy since grocery getting had us eating a late dinner. We will be having it again… and again. The kids didn’t say much b/c they were too busy engulfing it.  It’s FABULOUS. And it’s healthy and full of super brain food like raw cacao…..

Strawberry Ravioli with Cacao Sauce

(inspired by Fawn M. at  www.goneraw.com, & then tweaked so I didn’t have to make the cacao sauce on the stove). It’s mainly raw, although I’ve heard agave can never really be raw or it would turn to tequila in a couple days, so you could also use date paste (dates with water) instead of the agave. There are also “bliss balls” featured in this pic, but you won’t find the recipe on here. I’m not sure I can ever part with that one……!

Servings- 2

1 pint fresh strawberries

Pear Cream filling:

1/2 cup cashews, presoaked

3/4 medium bosc pear, or bartlett

1 tbsp lemon juice

Cacao Sauce:

2 Tbsp raw coconut oil

2 tbsp raw cacao powder

1 tbsp agave nectar (more or less to taste)

**soaking cashews for 2-4 hrs. is recommended but not neccessary.

* pear cream filling can be made a day or two in advance if you like.

To make pear cream, in a blender, food processor, or magic bullet- grind cashews into a flour. Coursely chop the pear, & add it along with the lemon juice until smooth. Set aside.

Combine the cacao powder, agave, & coconut oil in a bowl & stir until smooth in a seperate bowl.

Wash strawberries & pat dry. Cut 1/4 inch segments that can then be sliced to create a pocket. Depending on the size of your berries you may want to slice them lengthwise or crosswise. Remove the stem with a V cut to preserve the natural heart shape of the berry.

Spoon the filling into the strawberry ravioli and place directly on a plate. This is a great dish to share. Now gently drizzle some of the cacao sauce on the ravioli & serve immediately.

Green Goddess Smoothie

Green Goddess ingredients

The swiss chard in our garden Is looking gorgeous. The last of what’s left of the summer garden until the late fall stuff gets going. Almost so pretty it’s hard to pluck it for smoothie time!……The Green Goddess knows that when what she desires is also amazingly positive for her vitality and energy, it’s a win-win.

Thanks swiss chard for inspiring the latest Green Goddess Smoothie today, you are loved and appreciated.  I am making steady progress on the smoothie book some of you know I’ve been working on, & can’t wait for the opportunity to share all the recipes I’ve been experimenting with over the last couple years.

Now for the recipe- my brothers and sisters who appreciate those incredible little hydrogen bubbles, pure energy, & juicy green goddess greatness…..

Green Goddess Smoothie

(all ingredients are organic & fresh, unless indicated)

1/4 green bell pepper

1 stalk- celery

handful- green grapes

1 kiwi- chunked

1/2 cup- cilantro

1 handful- mixed dark leafy greens(* I used swiss chard, kale, & red leaf lettuce today.  Spinach is awesome too!)

1 tbsp- shelled hempseed

1tbsp -chia seeds

1 red radish- sliced

1/2 cup 100% Litchi juice

1tsp. bee pollen

filtered water

Blend, serve, enjoy the green energy! Hemp seed and chia seeds can be found online or in health food stores. Use caution with bee pollen if you are not sure about allergies. It is one of the most ancient and nutrient dense foods on this planet, which I will elaborate on in a future post. Try a few granules first, and work up to a tsp. or more if it’s new to you.

Hot Stuff!!! At Home Remedies for all Ages

My son Bishop’s recent high fever (greater than 103 degrees), has inspired this post to share how to reduce fevers & handle infections at home safely, & effectively without costly trips to the Doc. This is his second fever ever and he is two years old ! We don’t have health insurance like millions of other Americans, and we have lived without it going on two years now! It has saved us many thousands of dollars; by and large we don’t “sweat” it because we have our own at home health assurance.  This involves relying on & utilizing a synergistic blend of wise women’s healing (still used by all the indiginous cultures of our planet), faith healing, the power of prayer & mantra, homeopathics,  & the principles of ayurvedic medicine “the science of life”, which are more ancient & holistic than allopathic medicine. Truly, it is the Divine Mother Herself who is the ultimate physician; she heals and nurtures us back to optimal health with HER LOVE & GRACE!!!

On occasion, we get out of balance, and we reach for the remedies we can prepare and use at home before taking a trip to what I call “Big Pharma Central.” I say this with gentle laughter, because we thank god for modern medicine at times when it is really needed, & during those times we consider it a blessing. However, most of the time it does more harm than good in this day & age. This requires a great deal of balance, & intuition to know when it is or is not neccessary. It is amazing that I can handle at home for maybe $10-$15 (for several bouts of illness), what would cost me well over $100 at the Dr, one trip only.  I know this means we don’t follow the herd when it comes to our health; & people are sometimes surprised to find out I was a Nurse & now stay as far away from western medicine as possible. So why would a retired Nurse avoid the Dr.?/!  Our alternative approach was born out experience alone.

When we go to the Dr., antibiotics are often prescribed, and the problem is that they kill all of the beneficial bacteria lining our digestive tract. Thus, they kill the enemies, but they knock off all the allies along with them. Often when we jump to treat our pains, fever, & other ailments with antibiotics we rob ourselves of the opportunity to strengthen our own immune system leading to better health & increased protection from dis-ease in the future. It’s as if we want to remove and erase immediately the message that the pain or dis-ease is trying to tell us, rather than going through the pain, receiving the message, & becoming stronger for it. The more we use antibiotics the more the bacteria mutate, & become resistant which means more & more antibiotics. Hmmmm….. This means: more money lining Big Pharma’s coffers, the bugs get smarter, & we get weaker as a species, & also dis-empowered.

My often called “crunchy” approach proves itself time and again to work for our family of four with one income & no health insurance! So…. if you find yourself needing anti-biotics, you can really help yourself by putting back the healthy bacteria into your system.  Simply, use a pro-biotic both during and afterwards! You can get them in capsule or liquid form in many health food stores.

At Home Fever Reducer’s & Anti- Biotics/Anti-Viral Remedies

1.) Salt baths– 1-2 cups Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) added to a cool bath. Soak for 30 minutes, or as long as a little one will allow. Try & keep as much of your body under the water as possible. For my toddler who wouldn’t lay down, I just continuously poured the water over his body with a small bucket. This will draw all the toxins out, purifying the whole body!

2.) Medicine tea– Boil 1/2-1 gallon of filtered water, a few tbsp of tulasi leaves (holy basil),  2 tbsp grated fresh ginger root, & 2 tbsp cardomom. Remove from heat after boil, & let steep for 30 minutes or so. Serve warm, add milk & honey if desired or refridgerate overnight & drink as an iced brew.

3.) Cold Compresses with Essential oils– Wet a washcloth with cold water & add a few drops of essential oils. I usually lightly rinse & ring out. Then apply to the entire body as a sponge bath, followed by compress to the forehead, feet, etc. My favorite oils for fever/infections are: tea tree, lemon, rosemary, sage, lavender, eucalytus, & thyme.

4.) Sandalwood paste– Mix a few tsp sandalwood powder with a little water until it forms a paste. Apply paste to the forehead and/or feet. Sandalwood sanctifies, & is highly purifying, cooling, & soothing.

5.) Herbal tinctures– My favorites for fever/infection are: Echinacea, Tulasi, ElderFlower, Yarrow, Peppermint, Goldenseal, & Chamomile. The tinctures can be prepared with dried or fresh herbs in a base; either alcohol or non-alcohol, or can be purchased as simples (one herb only), or in combinations at health food stores or online. I personally use the combo’s, because I like how they synergistically blend together. I also use simples like Echinacea on  though, especially during cold/flu season.

6.) Colloidal Silver- Silver is the universal anti-biotic,  & anti-viral.  It is incredibly effective at treating so many problems without all the side effects of pharmaceutical drugs. I reserve this for when we have something pretty icky because it is powerfully potent stuff!

Love & Blessings for your continued Health, Freedom, Happiness & Peace!!!!

Raw thing, you make my heart sing!- Apple Avocado Salad

“Let thy food be thy medicine & thy medicine be thy food.” Hippocrates

Isn’t it interesting that the father of medicine knew this and somehow many of us have totally been disconnected from that which bestows the body/mind/spirit with everything it needs to thrive? Let’s RECONNECT & EN-LIVEN!!!

Living, raw foods make my heart sing!!!…. I feel incredibly nurtured and blissful tasting the simplicity of an orange or a grapefruit. I get that tingly taste on my tongue which is “electrical” because that is the nature of citrus fruit, either organic or heirloom. I don’t get that same feeling when I eat conventional fruits and veggies. They taste like chemicals, or very bland in comparison to me. Raw Rules!!

Onto today’s salad………

1 organic braeburn apple- cut in chunks

1 organic hass avocado- cut in chunks

1/2 cup fresh cilantro- chopped

1/4 red onion- diced

1 tsp black sesame seeds

1 tsp white sesame seeds

1 tsp golden flax seeds

1 tsp tulsi leaves (dried and ground in mortar/pestle)

himalayan pink salt or celtic sea salt to taste

black pepper to taste

feta cheese to garnish (you can substitute raw cheese to keep it all raw or omit to make it vegan)

Toss, & enjoy on a bed of leafy greens, or AS IS. If you want a little dressing here’s a super easy home-ade one.

3 TBSP fresh squeezed orange juice

1/2 tsp raw honey or agave nectar

salt & pepper to taste

My gratitude & Love in service to the Mother of the Universe who keeps helping me put one foot in front of the other on the path home.

Shanti Om.
